Photo tour

Immerse yourself in the history and evolution of our heritage with our brand new exhibition “Landscapes of yesterday and today”.

Each photograph, taken from the departmental archives and sometimes dating back to the early 19th century, tells a brief, fascinating story: the Auterive bridge rebuilt in 1832 after being destroyed by flooding more than two centuries earlier, the evolution of the old covered market in Cintegabelle, the villagers of Venerque immortalised in 1919 in the still-pedestrian Grande-Rue Rémusat, or the history of the ‘octroi’ tax in Le Vernet. The black and white photographs also highlight the urban transformations that have taken place over time, as in Caujac, Grépiac, Lagardelle-sur-Lèze and Mauressac.

Each of the eight images has been installed on the spot where photographers once captured a specific moment in our towns and villages centuries ago. This journey through time and our collective memory offers you a unique opportunity to rediscover our towns and villages from a new angle!
