Spring: the return of fine weather in the Auterivain Basin

Plateau du Pech in Venerque

There’s no better place than the Plateau du Pech to take the pulse of the Auterivain Basin! On the heights of Venerque, contemplate the landscape and admire the Pyrenees. You’ll see it all from up there! The hills of the Lauragais, the wild Ariège valley that runs through the area and the forests of the Volvestre hills. With the Pyrenees as a backdrop, you might even spot the wild orchids that cover the plateau from May to October!

The Maison Ysalguier in Auterive

A landmark of local history and culture! Take a stroll through a 12th-century manor house, or admire the permanent collection of the Fondation Pous and its masterpieces (Picasso, Dali, Matisse and many others are represented here!)… If you’re feeling peckish, why not treat yourself to ‘Chez Craquotte’ on the ground floor, a convivial restaurant open to all pockets! Do you live nearby? Keep an eye on the calendar to make sure you don’t miss any of the many events and temporary exhibitions!

Auterive Adventure

An adventure park by train, just 30 minutes from Toulouse and a short walk from Auterive station. It’s all about adventure! Whether you’re a family from 3 years upwards, or a group of friends looking for a thrill, take a trip up into the trees (from 6m to 32m high). Adrenalin junkies can try out the famous giant zip line over the River Ariège – thrills guaranteed!

Canoeing and kayaking

The River Ariège, the backbone of the Auterivain Basin, meanders from Cintegabelle to Venerque, passing through Auterive and Grépiac. Get on board with Venerque Eaux Vives or Granhota, and canoe down the river! Take time to admire the abundant biodiversity along the banks: you’re in a protected natural area…

The village of Cintegabelle

Come and stroll through the streets of this unusual village, nestling on a rocky promontory! At the top is a church with an octagonal bell tower, where you’ll discover a majestic organ dating from the 18th century. This village with its narrow flower-lined streets is also home to many legends. You’ll be told some of them at the town hall, which also houses a tourist information point and the town’s archaeological collection. As you cross the bridge, take a stroll along the footpaths or enjoy a picnic and games in a natural setting.

The Domaine de Ribonnet in Beaumont-sur-Lèze

Follow in the footsteps of Clément Ader at this unique wine estate! Explore the vats, stroll through the vines…: discover a farm modernised by the famous father of aviation and which continues to experiment. At the end of the tour, you’ll be invited to taste a hand-picked organic wine, a taste of the terroir!

This vast park below the Château du Vignaou boasts over 500 trees of almost 30 species! Educational panels tell you all about their history, how the park is managed, the role of biodiversity… Enjoy an unusual picnic break in the shade of the hundred-year-old trees…

The Enchanted Forest of Mauressac

A not-to-be-missed winter event in the Auterivain Basin! Every December, a fabulous setting awaits you in Mauressac. Listen to tales in the church and explore the Enchanted Forest, an illuminated grove with scenes straight out of our children’s imaginations.

The Auterive archaeological collection

Discover a captivating archaeological collection at the Auterive media library, taking you on a journey through time. Explore prehistoric tools, Gallic remains and Roman artefacts spread over three floors. Explanatory panels explain the history and past uses of these artefacts. It’s a fascinating journey into Auterive’s past!
